Dr. Aruna Shanthaarchci, Senior Lecturer Gr. I, Department of Economics and Statistics, Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, has been appointed as the Acting Director Staff Development Centre with effect from 02.06.2020.
Aruna Shanthaarchci obtained his Ph.D. in Resource Economics from the Northern University of Malaysia and presently serving as a Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics and Statistics, Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages. He has accredited as a Teacher in Higher Education by Staff Education and Development Association (SEDA). U.K. His research over a period of twenty years covered a wide range of subjects including poverty, growth, equity, unemployment, public enterprises, structural adjustment policies, agriculture and water management, rural development, international trade, international finance and globalization. Dr. Aruna Shanthaarchci’s involvement in policy related activities was extensive. At different times of his career, he held the position as a Member, national Task Force for Industrial Development, Member of National Task Force for Poverty Eradication and Board Member, Central Environmental Authority of Sri Lanka. He is serving as a consultant to World Bank, Asian Development Bank and International Monitory Fund under number of local and foreign projects. His involvement in non-governmental sector activities included honorary memberships at Social Scientists Association, and International Centre for Ethnic Studies. He was farmer Head, Department of Economics and Statistics and Editor in Chief, Sabaragamuwa University Journal.staff profile
