Profile

Prof. Chandrika Dissanayake graduated with a B.Sc. (Agriculture) degree by securing a second class upper Honors from the University of Peradeniya in 1997. She obtained her Masters (M.Phil) (Plant protection) in the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA), University of Peradeniya in 2005. Dr. Chandrika was a recipient of the Japanese Government Postgraduate Research (Monbusho) Scholarship from 2005 to 2009 to read for a doctoral degree. She was a recipient of the JASSO follow-up Research fellowship 2013.

She joined the Dept. of Export Agriculture, in the Faculty of agricultural sciences, Sabaragamuwa university of Sri Lanka as a lecturer in the year 1999 and promoted to Senior Lecturer since 2005. She is involving teaching undergraduate, student supervision, student counseling, conducting research, and community development program as senior lecturer.

She was awarded with the International Accreditation as a Teacher in Higher Education by Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) of Oxford University in 2003 after successful completion of SEDA recognized programme at University of Colombo. She has successfully completed Certificate of Teaching in Higher Education (CTHE) Staff Development Centre (SDC) University of Colombo, in 2003.

She is providing her service as an Honorary Senior Editors (Foreign) of Journal entitled Journal of Biological and Chemical Research (ISSN 0970-4973) and coordinating editor of, The Journal of Agricultural Sciences (ISSN1391-9318), Faculty of Agricultural sciences, Sabaragamuwa university of Sri Lanka. And also she is the Editor of Newsletter / Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.


Research Interests

Ecological Plant diseases management (Biopesticides) mainly focus on Antimicrobial activities of plant extract, host-pathogen interactions, resistance to plant diseases, and/or transmission of plant pathogens.

  • “Diversity analysis of sydigiumcumini (Ma Dan) from ecologically different regions in Sri Lanka for morphology, genetic and antimicrobial activity of plant extract grant No SUSL/RG/2016/08)
  • Antifungal Activity of various plant extract against plant pathogenic fungi
