The Ceylon Cinnamon Value Chain Development Project

The Ceylon cinnamon value chain development project hosted by the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka organized a meeting with Tokyo Institute of Technology in Japan on 25.03.2019 to get to network with them in their environment and listen to different points of view on cinnamon processing and learn new ideas and trends in the cinnamon field to upgrade the exciting Ceylon cinnamon industry.



This programme was conducted to bring together diverse cultures, new ideas and leading to innovative approaches on technology that is used in the cinnamon industry. This meeting has provided an opportunity to share information on new techniques, new types of equipment needed for cinnamon processing.

The research team from Japan had developed three prototypes related to cinnamon processing. This collaboration has provided an opportunity for a field trial to test the productivity and efficiency of the equipment in the cinnamon processing factory at Dassanayaka Walawwa Plantation and Cinnamon Training Academy (CTA).

This meeting was coordinated by the principal coordinator of the project, Prof D.A.M. De Silva,Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the members of the Ceylon cinnamon value chain development project.
