Profile

Prof. Ruvini K. Mutucumarana is affiliated with the Department of Livestock Production at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. She began her academic journey at the University of Peradeniya in 1994, earning a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.VSc.) degree in 1999 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science. She has been a registered veterinary surgeon with the Veterinary Council of Sri Lanka since 2000. In 2009, she obtained her MPhil degree in Animal Science from the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA), University of Peradeniya. 

As a Commonwealth Scholar, Prof. Mutucumarana completed her PhD in 2015 at the Institute of Veterinary, Animal, and Biomedical Sciences, Massey University, Palmerstone North, New Zealand. Her area of specialization is poultry nutrition, and she teaches undergraduate courses in related to poultry science and health, poultry nutrition, and microlivestock production at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.

Prof. Mutucumarana has published numerous research papers in both local and international journals, including Poultry Science, the Journal of Animal Science, Animal Feed Science and Technology, and the Journal of Poultry Science. Her research primarily focuses on digestibility measurements in poultry feed ingredients, endogenous mineral losses in poultry, and the use of non-conventional feed resources for poultry.

In addition to her teaching and research, Prof. Mutucumarana serves as a reviewer for several national and international peer-reviewed journals and has held the position of Coordinating Editor for the Journal of Agricultural Sciences-Sri Lanka.
