Post-Graduate Study Programmes

   
It has been approved by the Sabaragamuwa University Senate held on 6 th February, 2007 to commence post-graduate study programmes relevant to the indigenous communities, under the Centre for Indigenous Community Studies and requested to submit necessary by-laws and requirements for the post-graduate programmes to the Senate to enable to register candidates for post-graduate programmes.  
 
 
 
Study Programmes
The following study programmes will be commenced in October, 2007 under the Centre: for Indigenous Community Studies, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
 
  1. Post-Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Studies – P. G.Dip. Ind.Std (One Year )
  2. Master of Philosophy in Indigenous Studies or in a relevant field – M. Phil. (Two Years)
  3. Doctor of Philosophy in Indigenous studies or in a relevant field – Ph.D. (Three Years )
 
Admission Requirements:
All applicants should be above 18 years of age. And
An applicant for admission to candidature for the Post-Graduate Study Programme shall have fulfilled the requirements listed below:
 
P.G.Dip. Ind.Std   M. Phil.   Ph.D.
   
1.
Shall have passed the Bachelor’s Degree (General or Special) of a recognized University or of an Institute.
   
2.
Shall have evidence of research or publications in a relevant field
 
   
1.
Shall have passed the Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject with First Class or Second Class from a recognized University or from an Institute approved by the Senate. or
   
2.
Shall have passed the Master’s Degree in a relevant subject , and
   
3.
Shall have evidence of two years research experience or publications in a relevant field
 
   
1.
Shall have passed the Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject from a University approved by the Senate.
   
2.
Shall have completed a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline from a university approved by the Senate.
   
3.
Should possess evidence of post-graduate research or publications in a relevant field of study.
 
Approval of Programme of Study
After admission to candidature a candidate shall have his programme of study approved by the Board of Study and the Senate on the recommendation of the Board of Study of the Indigenous Community Studies Centre.
 
Appointment of Supervisor
For each candidate the Senate shall appoint a supervisor/co-supervisors on the recommendation of the Board of Study, who shall be a member of the teaching or research staff of the University or an academic or researcher of any other university or a research institute. Retired academics, researchers or scholars may also be appointed as supervisors. The supervisor shall advise and supervise the candidate during his candidature.
 
Payment of Fees:
Applicants are required to pay the course fee plus other charges once the acceptance notice is issued.
 
Online Application :
Applicants may submit their applications online subject to payment of Application Fee, Course Fee and Library Deposit once the Application is accepted.

Fees for the foreign students can be obtained from the Director, Centre for Indigenous Community Studies.
